The film "Hochkönig’s Hiking Realm – Wild Waters and Colorful Ores” starts from Hochgrüneck – located high above Bischofshofen and the Salzach Valley – into the charming hiking world of the UNESCO Global Geopark “Ore of the Alps”, which has been declared a World Heritage site.
The communities of Bischofshofen, Hüttau, Mühlbach and Sankt Veit received this high international award in 2015. In the Geopark hiking trail, the earth and the regional history of the Pongau can be experienced. The geo-trail “Erzweg Kupfer” connects the individual mines, museums and the visitor center with each other.
The film tells the history of mining and skiing and they coincide in a surprising way: the pioneers of skiing from Salzburg were miners and their children!
On the way in this landscape of contrasts we meet former miners, history-conscious people, geologists and Celtic experts.
